SmartPlayer - Music Player and Scrobbler for Last.fm App Reviews

Shuffle works very inconsistently, but if I listen to songs not on shuffle, I love this app.

This is by far my favorite music app. It scrobbles and does everything it advertises. However since the last update every time I try and play a song from an album, it randomly plays a different song from the one I chose. This needs to be fixed asap because I cant enjoy this app like I used to :(

Great music app

Ive used a lot of (free) music players, some are bad and others are just okay. Though this is the priciest of the bunch its well worth it to have a solid, stable and very good looking alternative music player. I would only suggest future updates to support Apple music.

I absolutely love this app, in my opinion its much better than the native music app, but one question: I like to keep my music on repeat one and when I felt like changing I just swiped to the next song and went on but since my phone updated it wont switch the song without me taking it off of repeat 1, switching, then putting it back on. Can there be a fix for that? It always peeves me now that repeat is just the same song in a mock playlist an infinite number of times.

I live this app, cant wait for apple music support.

My sole reason to use this app is the scrobbling of songs to Last.fm. Please make it more robust and smooth. It sometimes misses a song or wont scrobble the offline list of songs.

I use this over the standard music app mainly because it scrobbles to last.fm but luckily it works just as well if not better than the standard app in every way so its great. Would highly recommend if your looking for a scrobbler to purchase this one its the best Ive found hands down

There have always been one or two bugs, but lets be real: the built-in Music.app has plenty of those too, and I vastly prefer SmartPlayers features.

since ive downloaded this app, the default apple music app has been collecting dust inside a folder. its the best for last.fm users who are religious scrobblers!

So many times I select the first song of an album and by default it goes to shuffle mode. I disable it but it seems that once the album was opened in shuffle mode, there is no going back. I select the song I want and it plays another one. The only way I found is to kill the app, relaunch and play the album again, disable the shuffle (why the $@&:/ does it always force shuffle???) and the it works. But if I forget to do that on first song, its game over for playing the album not in shuffle mode. Otherwise its pretty good and I would give it 4 stars.

With the latest update, much improved linkage with Last.fm. I use it because it scribbles and you can "love" a track got last fm from within this app.

As a last.fm user for over ten years, Scrobbling is a key feature in music players. I was pleased to find SmartPlayer. Its a drastic improvement over last.fms app, and I prefer it to the Apple Music app as well. As an album listener, I would like to see a better method for viewing album tracks after Ive gone and navigated to another Artists album list. Id also like to see an interface for Plus iPhones. The zoomed interface works, but its fairly obvious that the text is zoomed.

This is almost a perfect application. I came here looking for something to just scrobble to last.fm, but the UI in this app makes for a much better experience than Apples music app. Thanks!

Picking one song will play another song :/

I’ve been using this app for a few years and often completely forget about the default music player even being on my phone! It worked great on my iPhone 4, and I recently upgraded to iPhone 6 and now the app doesn’t play the songs I select? It just plays whatever song is at the top of the list, be it by artist, album, alphabetically, or within a playlist. and when it’s set to loop one song swiping to skip just keeps playing the same song from the beginning instead of going to loop playing a DIFFERENT song. I love the interface of this app a lot, but these changes are making the app almost impossible to use for me.

Groove smart playlist was the best music app in the industry. But Microsoft bought the rights to the name groove and now the app no longer works. It used to sync with last.fm and create the best mixes. I guess with the name with the name smart player, I was hoping this app would do something similar, but all it does is play your music and a not so smooth interface and use last.fm to scrobble.

When youre on repeat 1 and you swipe to change the song, it doesnt change it, instead you have to remove the repeat and then swipe. Also if you click on a song in a list, it just plays the first song at the top of the list, which is kind of NOT what you wanted to do. Its really annoying and I usually grow to hate every first song on my playlists, because the second I hear it, I know its this bug again. Please, fix it as soon as possible, for Im using this app daily for more than two years now and its like that for few months already. Even with the bugs like they are now, Id prefer this app anytime before the others out there.

"The new version is almost here guys, just a few more weeks!" Thats what it says on an update report for this app from July of 2015, and meanwhile it still plays the first song on a track list when you select others. Any time youre ready with that new version, my man.
